Here's the answer to common questions about the PA (Politian Apartments)

Are the apartments located within the town?
--> YES. The apartments are located inside the town's walls right in the heart of historic center and at walking distance to everything interesting/useful in town. Montepulciano is a small town and while you stay at PA you won't need a car or public transportation.

Is there a parking available nearby?
--> YES. Although in the historic center, the PA are easily accessible by car and a free, public parking is generally available just in front of the apartment's entrance. Larger parkings are located at only 5 min walk.

Where are the PA exacly located in town?
--> Here I pointed on Google Maps the exact location. The building above the PA is the town's Fortress located in the highest point of the hill.

How can I get more references about the PA?
--> THROUGH the numerous traveler's forums such SlowTrav.com or Fodors or online travelogues (see some example on the reference page) .

Do I need a car during my stay in Montepulciano?
--> YES and NO. If you plan to stay in town you will not need a car as everything is at walking distance (shops, bars, restaurants, sightseeing places) but if you plan to visit the surrounding countryside and other villages in the area you will definitely need to rent a car as public transportation within the small villages is no existent.

How can I come to Montepulciano without a car?
--> You can come by train stopping at Chiusi and then by bus (30/40 min) or by taxi (30 min, ca. 40 euro). Buses to Montepulciano run from Siena and Florence

Do the apartments come with any service?
--> The apartments are self catering. They are provided with linen, towels, toiletry and some basic cooking ingredients (salt, oil etc.). Daily cleaning is available upon request and has an extra charge. Although there is not a proper concierge service, I live next door and happy to provide any assistance during your stay.

Do the apartments have aircontitioning?
--> No, there is no airconditioning in the apartments. Note that Montepulciano is one of the highest hilltop town of Tuscany (located at 600 mt above sea level) and usually get breezy and cool evenings/nights even during summer (see the temperature table below).
Old building are naturally insulated with double ceilings and thick stone walls. The apartments are also provided with fans.

What is the rental cost for 2013?
--> Weekly rates vary depending on occupancy and season. Daily stays are also possible with a minimum stay of 3 nights. Generally the rates for two persons occupancy start from 90 euro per night or from 500 euro per week. Rates for 3 or 4 persons (adult) occupancy range from 120 to 150 euro per night or from 700 euro per weekly stay. Longer rentals (2+ weeks) benefit of reduced rates. Note that from 2014 the city tax won't be included in the rental price any longer and must be paid in cash upon check out

These rates are per person or per apartment?
--> ALWAYS per apartment NOT per person and include all charges.

Are there any extra/additional costs?
--> NO, the price in inclusive of all costs, charges, final cleaning and taxes. There are no extra costs. The price is always per apartment (not per person). Optional daily cleaning is available upon request at an extra charge.

Can I only come for few days?
--> YES but the minimum stay required is three nights.

Is there a specific check in day?
--> No, we don't require any specific day of the the week for check in.

What is the cancellation policy?
--> Not being a professional business there is not a formal, strict policy. In general, cancellations made ahead of time (until 30 days prior check in date) get full refund (deducted the transaction costs). Cancellations made within a month before the check in may get partial refund depending on the season and the duration of the stay.

Is a long term rental possible?
--> YES and quite common especially in September, October and November because of the local language school and because Montepulciano is the preferred base to explore all central Italy. Long term rentals (2+ weeks) benefit of special rates and service (weekly cleaning)

Are these apartment suitable for family with infants?
--> YES, renting an apartment with kitchen facilities offer a good alternative to a traditional hotel accommodation. We also provide a baby cot and highchairs.

What is the smoking or pet policy?
--> The apartments are STRICTLY no smoking. PET are allowed provided they are well educated, an additional deposit may be required.

Will I have any assistance during my stay in town?
